4.Flat Plans

The front cover for my magazine I think works really well and is similar to other front covers like NME. As I used three block colours (back, white and red) it is bold and attractive to the audience and used points of power (rule of thirds) to place the image and the writing surrounding it.

It is very simple but includes all of the information/ navigators the reader needs in order to understand the content of the magazine.

The contents page includes all of the information on the front cover and some! I used an NME style contents page as a template/idea for my contents page, using drop caps for the body text information of the main article (double page spread) a subscription box and a band index. I wanted to use three images so that the reader will know whats in the magazine and act as a navigator with the page numbers next to them. Each section of the magazine is divided into four main headings box outlined in black and this features on the double page spread so that the reader knows they are on the right page for the article. THE NOISE! heading is features on every page as in Smash Hits and NME this is used as a navigator as well as to create a formality to look professional. Each page number is followed by the heading and brief text to explain what will be included on each page.

For my double page spread, I plan to make it have as much writing as possible. I want to use shapes like circles as an information box again to explain what will be in the article. This will act a little bit like a subheading, although there will be one above saying 'GUITAR,PEDAL, ACTION!'. This secludes the main body text used on the contents page which explains about the artist using a guitar and pedal to create his music. I included a song that the chosen artist put together for the magazine which is why the image with the clock will be used to resemble to song title 'Time'. The photograph will be the background of the double page and three other images uploaded to his MySpace page will be used as it was photographed by the same person. There will be credits for the writer (me) and the photographer at the end of the article and insert boxes that includes THE NOISE!'s website and the artists website. This is useful for the reader to find out more about the artist and increase his popularity as many articles do.

The word 'INTRODUCING' is used as the artist was founded by the noise and it is therefore the magazine introducing to the reader and the audience at the noise awards to NATHON P. His name is in the same font style used on the contents page to create formality and theme to his name.
